Key To The Tables

"City" - City or town where station is located. If a station has been moved to a city or town other than its original location, the station will be listed under both locations. Alternate names for the station may also be listed or will appear in the notes.

"Railroad" - The railroad that built the station. Sometimes this can hard to discern if the date of the building is not known and mergers and transformations have taken place.

"Current Location" - I have tried to be as specific as possible, giving street addresses or GPS coordinates when possible or, barring that, intersection or street names. When submitting a location be as specific as possible so others might find the station (or its former location if gone).

"Type" -

• P = Passenger
• F = Freight
• C = Combination Passenger and Freight.

"Current Use"

• Private = on private property or used as someone's home. If you go there you should ask if you want to take a photo. Sometimes owners will chase you off with a shotgun but other owners are friendly and can even give some of the station's history. If you ask you can either get a running start or meet some nice folks.

• Business = Houses a shop or restaurant. If their wares or food looks good - give it a try. Sometimes these businesses are responsible for the preservation of the building and your patronage can't hurt that effort.

• Storage = Used by an industry, business or private individual (for example, a lumber company to store wood).

• Municipal/Civic = Local/state run offices such as police, fire, library, and village offices.

• Railroad = Used as railroad office, maintenance of way shop, or still as station for Amtrak or an excursion line.

• Society or Museum = A museum or preservation club.

"Date Built" -  Self-explanatory. Year listed.

"Track Status" -  Self-explanatory. Again we tried to be as specific as possible.

"Building Material" -  Wood, Brick, Stone, Stucco, Concrete, Metal, Etc.

"Notes" -  Anything more specific that does not fit in another column.
