Notes. . .

Chillicothe -  Served 2 railroads which crossed here: 1)M&C -->B&O-->CS-->CSX; and 2) Scioto Valley --> N&W -->NS.
Original building added onto on four occasions; mostly brick with some frame. CSX line removed 1989, NS line still quite active. John Thompson reports in 2007 that the building appears abandoned.  Structure appears to be in very bad shape. Roof in very poor condition, if no holes, will be very soon. Windows broken, boarded up. Building still secure, padlocks on doors. Chain link fence around east end of building. Transfer track from CSX to NS still intact at rear of building, appears to be still used. In its heyday, the station featured a full dining room and lunch counter.

Ross County Stations Of The Past

Station Railroad Notes
Chillicothe Marietta & Cincinnati (CW&B, B&O) There was a freight station on Main Street to the east of the passenger station.
Chillicothe CH&D This station was located on the west side of South Paint Street near 11th Street.
Chillicothe Scioto Valley (N&W) Prior to the freight station listed above which was built in 1910, the N&W used the old Scioto Valley freight station which was on Sugar St. across the tracks from the 1910 station. That old station must have been torn down around the time the new station was built as it is not on Sanborn maps from 1914.
Higbys N&W Razed October 1, 1936
Kingston N&W May have also served the Marietta Hocking & Northern RR which ran from Kingston to Adelphi in Pickaway Co.
